More X11, OpenOffice Beta

Here’s the official press release on yesterday’s spiffy announcement: Apple Introduces X11 for Mac OS X. W00t. :)

Final Beta of OpenOffice for Mac (Darwin Version)

Anonymous Coward writes ‘With all the excitement and new products coming out during Mac Expo it seems nobody noticed there’s a new version of Open Office for Mac OS X. Go grab it and try it out with your recently dowloaded X11 implementation from Apple. Guys, we’re almost there!’

Almost there on the Darwin version, not Quartz or Aqua, but an important, necessary step nonetheless. As they say on the page:

This is a public beta and ready for day-to-day usage by the Unix-savvy user. It is still a beta and may not be 100 percent stable. It is also not a traditional Mac OS X user-friendly application. Consider yourself warned. Always back up files; always take precautions. This build is meant for the Darwin community and Unix-savvy Mac OS X user community and forming a platform for us to build the Quartz and Aqua tracks for the traditional end user.
