Dog emotions

I did some research last night on the emotions of dogs and found out some interesting things related to Pharaoh. I think we’ve been doing most of the right things new owners should be doing and with some refinements we’ll be in good shape. He’s a super-good dog, a sensitive guy, and a definite love sponge when it comes to the whole ‘pack.’

Somebody said a long time ago that dogs don’t think they’re human, they think we’re big dogs. :)

There was a book on dogs and their emotions that was one of my favorites not quite 20 years ago (!); it was part of a trio of books, the others on horses and cats. I think it was called Dogwatching — I’m going to try and find it for Denyse and me.

Looks like I remembered correctly: they were by Desmond Morris, probably most famous for The Naked Ape. There’s also an Illustrated Dogwatching which would be fun to get. I think I’ll run by B&N later and see if they have it.

I have tomorrow off for Lincoln’s Birthday, which is a surprise — I didn’t have it in my calendar for some reason. One of the recent years they combined holidays into one four-day weekend rather than two three-dayers. I’m not sure I know which one I prefer. Probably the two three-days.
