Acid House Kings The name suggests a very different kind of music, but this is some sweet retro Swedish pop. Evocative of an era, ABBA esque, but it came out this year. Spotlight song: ‘Tonight Is Forever’
MC Frontalot Nerdcore hiphop originator, gets in your brain and will not get out. Like a parasite from a Star Trek episode, appropriately enough. Spotlight song: ‘yellow lasers’
Electronic Periodic Excellent selection from my podcasts list, ambient electronica with a keen elemental theme.
Nouvelle Vague Don’t let the annoying Flash site turn you off. Spotlight song: a stripped-down femmefolk version of ‘I Melt With You’
Eux Autres This is sweet indie pop rock release, reminds me a bit of Jane Wiedlin, which is a good thing. Spotlight song: ‘Other Girls’
