Mail.app hint. 1994 web usability. Sewiously old school.
Mail.app hint of the day: while reading a message, if there is a URL you would like to open in a browser, but you want to have it load in the background, Command-clicking the link will do just that.
Control-clicking (right-clicking) on a link offers four options:
Open Link, Open Link behind Mail, Download Linked File, and Copy Link.
Fun link of the day: Report From a 1994 Web Usability Study on useit.com. Jakob Nielsen writes:
This reports summarizes results of a usability study of several Web sites I conducted in the beginning of December 1994. Users were observed as they browsed the Web sites of Hewlett-Packard, IBM, Microsoft, Sun Microsystems, and Time Warner. The report has only been very lightly edited and thus represents my thinking about Web usability in 1994. In fact, the report was originally written for distribution to the rest of the Web team on paper since we were not heavy intranet users in 1994, despite having designed SunWeb a few months before this study.
Fun not so much for the subject matter as the old-school screenshots of various websites. Sometimes, yes, I still miss the old days of the WWW.
Speaking of old school… sewiously old school:
