OnLAMP: Organizing Files. Xmas shopping hack.

Very cool article by Karl Vogel up at onlamp.com: Organizing Files:

The problem: the filesystem on my Unix workstation was a mess. I couldn’t find anything without grepping all over creation. About half the time, I’d actually find something useful. Usually I’d get no hits at all, or I’d match something like a compiled binary and end up hosing my display beyond belief.

Karl covers what schemes didn’t work, what almost worked, and the GTD-inspired system he finally decided on.

Xmas shopping hack: take pictures with your cameraphone of the potential presents your significant other has subtly (or not so subtly) mentioned. That way when you’re out shopping, you’ll have both the name and (more importantly for the guys) an actual picture of the item in question.
