Garciaparra is most affable but makes it clear that he doesn’t like talking about himself or statistics.

“It’s a team game, a team sport,” he said. “I’m not feeling anything other than I’m happy to go out and play the game I love. To me, I’m just a part of this team, a small part, constantly working at it. There’s no magic formula. I have a simple way of looking at things.”

Garciaparra smiled when asked the last time he was in the kind of hitting groove he’s been in recently.

“I don’t even think of it that way,” he replied. “I always say success depends on the team you’re on, the guys you’re surrounded by. Once again, I’m surrounded by a great bunch of guys, great people.”
