Ark of the Covenant vs Zombies

Here’s an important question. Would the Ark of the Covenant (that killed all the bad guys with a literal deus ex machina at the end of Raiders of the Lost Ark) have the same effect on zombies?
What if they were Nazi zombies?
The easy answer is: “Of course the Ark would take zombies out — it’s the Ark of the Covenant!”
Looking back at the scene in Raiders, even the good guys have to close their eyes to avoid getting hurt. So if you’re alive, and your eyes aren’t closed, you’re gonna die.
So the real question is, assuming the attack requires entry into the eyes, does it require some kind of brain activity behind it?
Hm.
Why should brain activity be necessary if it’s just about the entry point into your body. Once inside, even Zombies would be killed.
I’m not sure, though, it’s the entry through the eyes thats killing the bad guys but rather what they see.
If so, it’s not the entry point that defines if you get killed or not, but “seeing” what you should not.
That still leaves the question open if it needed some brain activity.
Since you only had to close your eyes and not your ears, it might have something to do with what you would recognize by seeing it. And that would mean a brain that could identify something behind it.
If so, then Zombie still might have been affected by it, since they also do seem to recognize things (otherwise why would they attack people and not, say, the next wall, a fire hydrant, a sewer grill or any furniture).
It would depend on what needs to be recognized. What could come out of the Ark of the Covenant? God’s face, Angels, Daemons? Something spiritual obviously, and if that is independent of race and belief, it might be universal to all people, alive or half-dead Zombies.
Yes, thinking about it I assume the Ark would have been an effective weapon against zombies.
Boy, we do have too much time on our hands to be discussing something that abstract, hm? :-)
Where did the screenshot of the zombie nazis come from?? Never seen that film.
The Nazi Zombie picture is from Død snø (aka Dead Snow).
And as far as too much time on our hands, this is important research! You never know when an army of Nazi zombies are going to suddenly burst into your city or town and start laying waste!
