Apples

A particular obsession research item of mine is apples — the fruit, not the computer company. :)

Did you know apples are a member of the rose family? Me either. More importantly for my purposes, apples taste good, are high in fiber, and apparently help reduce heart disease and cholesterol like crazy — one source I read (the World’s Healthiest Foods link below) said, “Eating 2 large apples a day has lowered cholesterol levels by up to 16%!”

Now, at some point in my distant childhood I switched from loving fruit and veggies to loathing fruit and veggies. I have begun pushing myself into new culinary areas of consumption — chronicled in The Grown Diaries. And so far I love all the apple varieties I’ve noshed on, especially Granny Smith and the aptly named Red Delicious.
