GTA: Herbie Goes Bananas Followup

Mentioned in a previous b.la post, last Thursday night saw what might loosely be described as a high-speed police chase, watched by this correspondent on Channel 2 and then Channel 9 when they switched coverage. How was this any different than the hourly high-speed police chases held for the benefit of tourists and TV police video shows? The vehicle involved was a VW Bug. The Long Beach Press-Telegram has posted an article about the incident. My favorite parts:

“(The driver) was arrested and held without bail for evading police and possibly driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol…”

Let’s see… trying to evade police in a VW Bug… I just don’t see the possible connection with drugs or alcohol.

Then this at the end:

“No one was hurt in the pursuit…”

Pretty much speaks for itself.
