Triple play!

Wow! I just watched the White Sox turn a 3-4-6 triple play on the Twins on Sunday Night Baseball (scoreboard). First one I’ve ever seen as it happened.

The batter bunted into the air as the runners on first and second were running. The first baseman caught it just off the ground (first out), then he turned and threw it to the second baseman at first (second out), who threw it to the shortstop at second (third out) since the runners had no chance to get back and tag up. What a trip!

Bit of trivia: while on the Braves back in 2003, Rafael Furcal (currently on the Dodgers) actually turned an unassisted triple play, only the 12th person to accomplish that feat.
