SART wants completion
In the San Bernardino Sun, an article on some of the challenges facing completion of the middle portions of the SART, the Santa Ana River Trail:
On the east, the roughly 30 miles of twisting, narrow trail from the mountains down to Mentone are legendary among mountain bikers and equestrians.
At the western end, there are 30 miles of asphalt from Green River Drive in Corona to the beach that are always packed with joggers, walkers and bicyclists.
It's the in-between valley parts that have been slow in coming.
A new organization is being proposed that would unite San Bernardino County cities in efforts to finish the trail.
On Saturday, officials from Redlands, Highland, Colton and San Bernardino along with Cal State San Bernardino's Water Resources Institute and The Wildlands Conservancy gathered near the trail just off San Bernardino's Hospitality Lane to pitch the formation of the Upper Santa Ana Watershed Foundation.
Hopefully they can get it together -- I would dearly love to bike the Crest-to-Coast Century. :)
