A cool profile of former Dodger Alex Cora, now with the Red Sox:

BOSTON — Alex will always be the little brother. He’ll always be the baby of the family and he’ll always be the one his two older sisters had to baby-sit when mom was away.

But make no mistake, Jose Alexander Cora is all grown up. Some could say the Red Sox infielder has been a man since age 13, when his grandmother and father died within months of each other.

Through death, Cora learned about life. Baseball is the easy part.

“It made me realize that you live for today, there is no past and no future,” Cora, 30, said. “You have to do everything possible today to accomplish something and then tomorrow comes and today is gone. I’m very fortunate to have had my father for at least 13 years. It set the building blocks for what I was going to be.”
