Pictures of MIT $100 laptop prototypes

three MIT laptop prototypes Story on Slashdot this morning. Exciting news!

First Photos of MIT $100 Laptop

An anonymous reader noted that MITs $100 laptop was unveiled at the Seven Countries Task Force Meeting. It runs a special version of the Fedora linux and it comes with native wireless lan support. You can see the photo album, and you can pledge to buy one at triple price… in order to donate 2 of them to children.

Once they get close to release, I will definitely look into one of these. A bit of news I hadn’t read yet — apparently they’ve had to ditch the handcrank idea due to torque issues. However, they are looking to add a foot-pedal device to the AC adapter, which might very well be better in the long run. Can’t wait!
