Robbie Keane to Galaxy

Reports are coming in that Robbie Keane is on his way to join the LA Galaxy.

Keane is unwanted by Spurs boss Harry Redknapp and said last week that he expected to tie up a move before the end of the transfer window.

The Irish international played in a friendly on Wednesday night against Croatia in Dublin, but is believed to be flying to LA to sign a contract worth a reported $9 million over next two years.

World Cup: JPN 2-2 USA (JPN wins on penalty)

Heartbreak in Frankfurt for Team USA as their magical 2011 World Cup ride comes to an end on penalty kicks. A certain measure of poetic irony they lose on what brought the 1999 team victory — the team they have been compared to throughout this tournament, fairly or no. Hope Solo said in an interview she was tired of the comparison — they wanted to write their own page in history, but it wasn’t a story with a happy ending this time around for the USA.

Not so for Team Japan, whose win can’t help but offer a measure of healing and hope for their beleaguered country. Congratulations on the championship, Japan, and continued best wishes for your recovery.

Between today’s result and yesterday’s Real Madrid manhandling of the Galaxy, the great weekend of soccer I was looking forward to didn’t pan out exactly as I might have hoped. :)
