VimOutliner

Plugin for vim that adds outliner functionality. I may play around with this at some point. I installed and played around with it. Here’s what resulted:

This is a test.
Hmm, it would appear that the colors need work. ;)
At least as it applies to a dark-background terminal
: this is a test. It should wordwrap instead of the alternative, which
: I believe is, uh, notwordwrap. And it appears to have worked.
Well that is very interesting.
It certainly is.
Ah, that's better. It would appear we have gotten a much nicer color scheme.
Or have we?
Let's figure this out.
Have a meeting.
Or something.
Not so much, but at least all the text is visible now.
: Well, this will take some experimentation to come up with a better
: colorscheme.
Not too bad, but will take some getting used to.
or will it
yes it will
but what's the big whoop-de-do?
Why not just use a regular text file?
All this is is regular text with different colors for each line
annoying isn't it
yes it is
Maybe just sticking with a pure textual todo would be just as good?
Now I just have to figure out how to add checkboxes from the plugin.
(_) 50% Here's a test list with percentages.
(X) 100% And here's a checkbox.
(_) 50% Here's another.
(X) first
(_) second
(_) third
(X) fourth
(_) 0% One more.
Oh, and what about the freaking screen vertical split rather than horizontal?
Apparently this is not an option. The bastards. ;)
But wait, it is. Gah.
:help split
I wonder if there's an option to automatically add checkboxes to new outlines.

Basically, vimoutliner options are handled in a ~/.vimoutlinerrc file, most of which is explained within it — you’ll probably need to adjust the colorscheme to match your terminal.

Oh and the split rant is about vim, not vimoutliner. :)

So, the final verdict — if the key commands for the checkboxes weren’t as they are, and if there were really any particular real value added over a plain text file, much less OmniOutliner, it would have more appeal to me.
